Whether it’s engineering scalable systems or exploring the frontiers of AI, Rafael Gallani and Thomas Weiß are already shaping the future of our platform and culture.
Welcome to the Team, Rafael Gallani!
We’re excited to welcome Rafael to OpusDNS as a Software Engineer, joining us from Brazil as part of our growing international team.
Rafael brings a strong background in backend development, distributed architectures, and high-performance web platforms. He has a sharp eye for scalable, maintainable systems and is already contributing to key components of our API-first infrastructure here at OpusDNS.
But Rafael is so much more than a coder:
- He’s a passionate musician who plays so many instruments, we’re seriously considering starting an OpusDNS orchestra.
- He enjoys playing chess – great news for Thomas, who now has a worthy in-house opponent
- When he’s not at his keyboard, you’ll likely find him under the hood of his cars, including a well-loved Audi and VW.
With his calm demeanor, structured thinking, and great sense of ownership, Rafael is already making a strong impression both technically and personally.
Welcome to the Team, Thomas Weiß!
Thomas brings an impressive combination of analytical thinking, scientific curiosity, and strategic acumen – both on the chessboard and in the world of technology.
- A two-time Upper Palatinate Chess Champion, two-time runner-up, and winner of numerous youth awards, Thomas has a clear strength for thinking several moves ahead.
- Academically, Thomas holds Bachelor and Master degrees in
Mathematics from OTH Regensburg – graduating among the top of his
class. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Computer Science with a focus
on Artificial Intelligence. His first scientific paper is submitted and the second is currently in progress – in collaboration with OpusDNS. - Professionally, Thomas brings over eight years of experience in the domain
industry, starting as a working student and later transitioning into a full-
time developer role. During this time, he played a key role in various
technical projects, including pricing logic, data protection solutions, and API
architecture. A special focus of his work has been the application of AI
within the domain space. He contributed valuable insights in the field of
cryptography, side-channel attacks, and post-quantum security,
particularly in areas relevant to SSL certificates.
And when he’s not refining an algorithm or working on his dissertation? You’ll likely find him doing functional training or hitting the gym.
